Fairgrounds Coffee & Tea
Fairgrounds is a coffee and tea retail concept that believes in the magic and excitement that choice and variety can bring to the guest experience. The cafe showcases several different coffee roasters, on average, and features more than a dozen teas and mixed tea drinks that are called elixirs. They pioneered an extensive matcha program as well as a first-of-its-kind kombucha program, available on tap every day.
The name Fairgrounds is a reflection of their dedication to diversity in their adventurous offerings, their belief in equal billing for both coffee and tea, and their commitment to fair business practices. But we love the play on words, too. Because the fairgrounds of our youth were all about discovering something new and seeing something that made us say WOW. Today, their cafes strive to capture the same sense of wonder, excitement, and discovery that always inspires us at the fairgrounds. We started with their location in Bucktown, Chicago IL and then made several buildouts for other locations across the midwest. Their idea was to create different spaces in store for multiple uses. Each location is unique and has it’s own charm while using the same cohesive look and fairgrounds experience.

One of the biggest pride points at Fairgrounds is the quality of the food that they offer. They partner with local bakeries to deliver their food programming. Everything they serve is freshly made and ethically sourced from around the globe. These hanging wooden boards sit on rails with wheels just like the drink menu. The idea was to differentiate this from the drink menu but still play off the puzzle piece sections, as well as harken to the laminated diner style hand held menus at the stanchion.
